Chapter 17

Phoebe

I am over tired. My eyes are blurring on the computer screen. I have been at this for almost forty eight hours now and can’t seem to catch a break. I am about ready to call it quits and get some sleep when I finally catch a break.

“Guys I found it!” This gets everyone’s attention. Wyatt, who had taken Liam’s chair in the hall, gets Jasper’s attention. Once all the guys are in the computer room, I give them the details. Liam stands and puts his hands on my shoulders giving me support.

“Ok, Phoebe, what did you find?” This comes from Jasper as the rest all just watch. “I found the remaining fifteen million. I also traced back and found an additional fifty million he has taken from other people. Those accounts were closed after the theft. I tracked down most of the owners and returned their money.” They guys all start to cheer.

“We still have more work to do. Dax, I am going to need you to track down these owners and let them know we got it. Make sure you give them the new account information. I have added additional security protocols. Make sure you also tell them we will be sending an invoice, from the security company, for services rendered. They need to pay the bill prior to getting the account access. I am not playing games with people. We did the hard part, now they need to make it even.”

Jasper steps towards me, but stops midway as Liam lets out a growl. “I just wanted to give her a pat on the back, she did great.” Liam continues to growl and Jasper takes a step back arms raised in surrender.

“We still need to find this hacker, but I need some sleep and a shower.” Liam grabs my hand and starts to walk me to the lobby. Before we get out the door Jasper steps out from the hallway. “Phoebe, you did a great job. I want you to know you have a job here with us if that’s what you want to do.” I nod my head, too tired to think about it. “Thank you Jasper, I will think about it later and let you know.” He nods in response as Liam takes my hand and walks me out the door.

“Get in the car sweetheart, I will drive.” He takes the keys and I am just too tired to argue. He takes us to his house. I guess it will soon be our house. I need sleep before I think about too much else. My head is resting against the window as we pull into the driveway. Liam comes around to my side of the car, gently opening the door. He lifts me out and carries me to the door. He slowly puts me on my feet supporting me so I don’t fall over.

Once he opens the door he walks me inside closing the door behind us. “Okay sweetheart, do you want sleep first or shower first?” I have to seriously think about my response.
